Plenty of imagination.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s usually enough.<\/p>\n
Rates: This Isn\u2019t Dovish \u2014 It\u2019s Messy<\/strong><\/p>\n The first reaction was textbook. Front-end yields dipped on the assumption that a distracted Fed is a gentler Fed. That trade rarely survives contact with reality. A central bank under legal cloud doesn\u2019t lose its mandate, but it does lose a degree of authority. Markets sense that. The curve reflects it not with conviction, but with hesitation. Fewer clean expressions. More optionality. Volatility creeping in where confidence used to sit.<\/p>\n The Fed doesn\u2019t need to be wrong to be less effective. It just needs to be questioned.<\/p>\n FX: The Dollar Shrugs, For Now<\/strong><\/p>\n Dollar strength here isn\u2019t bullish America. It\u2019s bearish everything else.<\/p>\n When markets don\u2019t know what the rulebook is, they reach for the deepest liquidity pool and pretend that\u2019s a view. That works until it doesn\u2019t.<\/p>\n If this story evolves from rumour to process subpoenas become schedules, schedules become hearings the dollar stops being a shelter and starts being a verdict on U.S. institutional credibility. Not what policy is and who controls it. The moment investors suspect monetary policy could be influenced by legal calendars rather than economic data, valuations don\u2019t crash. They just quietly deflate.<\/p>\n No drama. Just gravity.<\/p>\n Bottom Line<\/strong><\/p>\n This isn\u2019t about guilt, innocence, or outcomes. Markets don\u2019t do moral philosophy.<\/p>\n It\u2019s about a new risk premium, small, awkward, and previously unnecessary being introduced into Fed pricing.<\/p>\n The Fed\u2019s greatest asset has always been predictability wrapped in authority.
